Right heres the general method, had a block of aluminium knocking about the garage, 40mm x 25mm x 20mm (approx) LxWxH so thought I would mount it to the bottom of my side stand, which is OE by the way.
So marked the block and drilled two 5.5mm holes through it, then held this against the bottom of the stand and using an automatic centre punch marked the positions for the threaded holes to be tapped.
Drilled and tapped the bottom of the side stand to accept 5mm bolts.
Next enlarged holes in block to 6.5 mm to half depth so that the allen bolts will sit below the surface.
Assemble the lot and can now leave the bike on its side stand confident that it will still be standing when I return
On the subject of needing a longer stand... Has anyone on here engineered a custom side stand? I need one for my Streetfighter as this solution won't work for mine, since my stand is now 45-50mm too short
Who else would be interested? We could do a group buy.
If it was adjustable, that would be best IMO.
I have a CNC machinist who makes my custom parts for SRD... I usually just do the designs, but I can mill and turn too, so I tend to make 1offs, whereas he does batches for me Will dig out some piccies of stuff he's done for me and post them in the Gallery
you could get some 20mm bar drill one end about 5 times nice tight clearance holes . Then cut of the attatchments spring holder etc form origional stand and weld them on . Finally get some 22mm or 7 eights tube drill it like the bar and make up a foot section outta some flat bar get it all chromed and put it on the mantlepiece might work tho mb i make one for mine
just carry a footpump and let the tyres down when you park..thats what i do..

ive done an extension job on a stand before with a heavy bike like these it pays to weld a brace between the two cos stands flex a lot . I only mentioned using tube and bar with holes so that it would be ajustable which is what the man was after i think ? :
