Cheers Nuggitt. I'm happy with hows it's ended up tbh. Just can't wait to road test. It feels so much better than the original just sitting and 'bouncing' it. Looks good too.

Great write up and a reality check into what some folk claim as being an almost straight forward fit

A carry on with this old shock swap.

I've not been out on it yet due to other issues, only round the yard.

Question. If I. May.
The ZX shock is slightly longer than the original.
Would this lower the rear ride height?

I have shorter dog bones that were on the original set up fitted. To me it looks lower on the arse end now.

Stupid me didn't measure before.

Oddly, shorter bones raise the ride height and sharpen the steering angle.
Keep on keepin' on.

Yeah. The shorter the dog bones the taller it gets.
I was wondering if the shock being longer might lower the height. Sounds weird but it now looks like its sitting lower than on the standard shock with short bones. Same bones on the the zx shock

A longer shock will increase the ride height.

If it helps, the standard seat height for a 89/90 is 765mm, for an RU is 775mm.
