Happy Day! 110 Miles...NO Problems...FDR Park

Post by kboehringer »

FZR Friends,
I've been posting here and getting your help for MONTHS as I try to restore my FZR. Thank you for all you have done to help me restore this bike.

TODAY, at the crack of dawn, I took off for a nice ride on my FZR. I took the FZR to FDR (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) State Park about 50 miles from my home.

The park includes a nice twisty mountain top road of approx. 12 miles and a bit of State Highway to get there. The ride was GREAT and the bike performed very well. I made several ultra high speed runs well in excess of 100mph and the bike handled well..... she had a lot more to give!

This is the longest/farthest from home I have been with the FZR.

NOT AT ALL! This bastard is fast as hell. NEVER owned a bike this fast. My 2016 FJR 1300 has a good top end and is extremely fast.... but it will not catch this thing.

My EGO wants me to tell everyone how fast I was going. But, I'm embarrassed since I do not have all the proper gear for these speeds. I do not yet own leathers which would certainly be a pre-requisite to these speeds... Leathers are a bit overkill for my Vintage Yamaha cruisers and the FJR.

I got the FZR up to 135mpg, only for a few seconds, when I decided this was far too fast for my age (56) and equipment. I am certain the bike had plenty more to offer! I'm most comfortable sticking to 85-90mph......

135mpg! Kurt, you have to get the protective gear so you can try harder. These are 170+ bikes as properly tested by Peformance Bikes back in the day.
Keep on keepin' on.
