Transmission freeplay

Post by yo4hgx »

I don't know how to explain this but my bike has a kind of transmission freeplay... for example standing still with the engine off, engaging any gear the bike still could move about 20cm forwards and backwards.

Is this normal?

Sounds like normal freeplay in the chain to me. Have you checked chain tension?
Keep on keepin' on.

Oos, just reread your post. Do you mean 20cm or 20mm?
20mm would be OK 20cm (200mm) would be excessive.
Keep on keepin' on.
