A FZR400RR 3TJ Jap import. Snap! I've got one Or is that the official UK 4DX model?
Quick little things. Apart from being left behind on the long straights I managed to do the Cheshire run with pretty much everyone else on 1000s
If it jolts at 180kph then it's the speed limiter. It's a horrible limiter. Cured by a M-max box or a speedo gearbox converter by the wheel.
Mine would not go round corners when I first got it but it was the horrible sagguy original shock. A R6 shock off a 2007 bike plus a length extension worked wonders.
I've "slightly" modded mine with the R6 shock and EXUP fork bottoms, wheel & disks and R1 calipers (Blue spots will not fit the original forks).
I've got a 600 motor getting prepped to go in mine and just getting the parts together before I start.
There seems to be quite a lot similar parts on the FZR1000R andRU but this 3TJ has a few oddities about it so you need to check parts compatibility quite carefully if you start modding.
Cheers Plodder, but I want him to be happy with it as it is before we start making changes to it - Actually, getting him to pay me for it would be good too (what else are dads for)
I'm not an overly hands-on person when it comes to modding, so will be seeking advice from the likes of yourself (as usual) before I shell out on parts (chances are I'd buy them from you if you had them anyway)
Exup/V-Boost? Tomato/Tomato? Same meat - Different gravy
All the same innit? It's still a yam
I don't think putting the 600 motor in is entirely straightforward because of the additional height of the cylinders limiting the airbox size under the tank, requiring 600 exhaust headers (which I'm told clash on the shock linkage), a 600 loom & CDI.
I've got all of the parts I think I need but there will be some wailing and gnashing of teeth I'm sure.
If it's all too hard, I'll just sell all of the stuff off on that 400 forum, sell the 400 and buy something newer or just go back to the 1000.
I'm not really doing parts now and am trying to get the last of my stuff gone. Apart from a couple of 1000 engines and the 600 engine, I've managed to get it all out of the garage so I can actually move in there now and I won't be getting any more bikes to break.
