Then they`ll be left for a couple of weeks to harden before final flatting and polishing.
Should be ready when i come back from holiday next week.

Well Chaps, its not good news........
The mudguard is ruined, after i laquered it the red paint bled onto the white decals and somehow got under some of the decals and lifted them.
I don`t know what went wrong, i allowed the base coat 24 hours to dry, i left the decals on 24 hours before i laquered it, and i did a very light coat of laquer to seal the decals before applying more coats, so for once i did it "by the book" and its gone tits up.
I haven`t done anymore to the tank yet, probably a good job i didn`t.
I knew it was going too well.........................

Allow 3 days in this weather Mark for it to harden. I waited at least 3 days to flat out a couple of runs in the top coat on boost touch up. Because you can't bake it in an oven it'll still be soft for a week or there abouts. Gutted for you, thats a kin bloody good effort for aerosols. Can't you get more decals just for the mudder?

Are you using Halfords laquer as well?
I will be interested to see the results as I pulled out an old magazine with a painting article and it was saying that anything other than 2 pack laquer is pants.
Of course these guys are professionals so if it's not like a mirror then maybe they're not happy but to me if it looks pretty reasonable then it's good enought for me.

Decals are sorted thanks to Stig.Yoda wrote:Allow 3 days in this weather Mark for it to harden. I waited at least 3 days to flat out a couple of runs in the top coat on boost touch up. I left the mudguard for 24 hours, it flatted back with no problem so thought it was dry, it was only when i laquered it when the red started to run over the decals.
To be honest, the mudguard was my best effort so far, but i`ve learnt the hard way, all the rest will be left a week to harden properly.

Lee, i did use Halfords laquer, it looked pretty good on the mudguard where the red paint didn`t bleed.plodder wrote:Are you using Halfords laquer as well?

I will be using it again, but only after the base coat has fully hardened.
It looked pretty reasonable to me.

Well its plan B with the mudguard.
I did a "test" on the one i sprayed and it didn`t work.
Seems plastic doesn`t like paint stripper.
So i repaired another spare i had, just needs rubbing down before spraying (again)
I had a go at "plastic welding" with a soldering iron, seems to have held ok.
