TDM850 stand. DON'T DO IT

Post by plodder »

Got a TDM 850 stand cheap (thank god) and tried it.

It's a bit longer but note the deliberate mistake with the spring return on the wrong side.

Right, so could mod the spring return, so lets compare original stand to see if it's worth it

with TDM stand...

No bloody difference

And I reckon that'll deck out on a tight left hander.

Right, where's my blowtorch and big hammer  Gotta be some more length & less width if I straighten out that kink
Converted to pedal power. Now skinny as fook.

Maybe a DT50/125/whatever they did them in?

Or ask mr Rutz nicely if he can cut and weld another inch into it.

Or how about a thick sole plate?

Didn't want to alter the original piece with a thicker sole....don't quite look right IMHO

and as for cut n' shut..its got to be 110% before I'd trust it and be happy with the looks. Would sooner have something that was made originally to do the task at the factory.....its just me being awkward.

Want something thats a straight swap from any breakers yard

By the looks of it, although the TDM stand is longer, it sticks out further, so hasn't made much difference. Summat to do with radius and angles and things like that :retard: Think a crosser/trailie stand might be too long. If the bend in the TDM stand could be straightened it might work
Defected for that V Twin goodness
