FIRE FLIES DONT USE THE (WHEEL LIGHTS)

Post by barden »

went to cadwell park with these fire flies on my wheels (u know the one that lights the rims up)
WE GOT UP TO A GOOD SPEED THEN POP
THE FIRE FLIE PULLED THE VALVE STRAIGHT OUT OFF THE RIM DUE TO THE WEIGHT OH THE LIGHT.

ANYONE ELES HAD THIS PROBLEM

GUYS JUST TAKE THEM OFF AND PUT THEM ON YOUR KIDS PUSH BIKES
THE TYRE WENT FLAT IN SECONDS

Barden,

heard this just after they were released. They've always had bad press where motorbikes are concerned
Apparently they also affect the efficiency of the valve making the tyres deflate at speed...slowly tho'

wouldn't EVEN put 'em on an ACE

that sounds well dangerous ....... think there was a bit on a thread earlier about them and the speed making the tyres loose air .......... seems you have confirmed it

alloy caps , pressure indicators, fireflys..................Through the lot in the bin and put the plastix caps back on, much much safer !!!.

these are well known problems.

Had the same prob as Dave with the Alloy caps - fine up to 140ish, anything more, and the front tyre went as flat as a witch's tit. Put the plastic ones back on and been fine ever since. Also been warned about the flush fit valves (more for cars really) but they tend to have a habit of unscrewing themselves in the wheel, and at best leaking air, at worst releasing all the air in one go. Best to avoid me thinks
