Gear lever seal.
Gear lever seal.
I've noticed there's a slight leak coming from the gear lever seal. I'm going to fit a new seal when it arrives. What I need to know is do I have to drain the engine oil before getting the old one out? If I don't drain the oil, could I get away with leaning the bike over to the right? I've watched some videos on You tube, but nobody mentions anything about draining the engine oil. When they pull the old seal out no oil gushes out from the aperture.
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

It’ll be fine if you lean it over. Done a few like that

Cheers Stig. I’ve just changed the oil and filter this week, so I was hoping I wasn’t needing to drain it out again to do the seal. When you did them, did they come out easy enough?

Re: Gear lever seal.
A small seal pick down the side of the selector shaft makes life simple
Bit of plastic film and oil over the end of the shaft when you push the new seal over the splines to stop damage to new seal lip

I was going to use the old drill bit and wood screw method. I have got some seal picks to fall back on for plan B.
