Electrical issues

Post by Ziggy »

Hi all
Having a nightmare trying to get a spark on my 1989 fzr1000, I inherited the bike which was in a pile of bits I'm 80% there but hit this snag, I've put a new battery on it I've tried new coils, still no spark the switch gear is working, neutral light and oil light comes on when I turn ignition, it turns over but obviously doesn't fire, there 2 wires I'm left with that have nothing to plug into, the ends are near the fuel pump I've traced them back and 99% certain the other end is the ends that plug onto the clutch lever, I'm Street fightering it and very eager to get out on it, please help me

Try a multi meter to check the positives going to the coils and make sure the CDI is sending power

Here you are.

These are just spare wires, so don't worry about them.

Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

The blue/white and black wires with the bullet connectors are for the sidestand switch

Sidestand Switch is #32 - Bottom right.

Just short it out should eliminate the open circuit
