Cams

Post by odie »

Hi all had the cams out for the valve service the other day and foolishly measured the cam lobes. Haynes manual says the limit is 32.9 mine are all 32.5 - 32.6 on the inlet cam. Anyone else measured theirs to see if this is normal. The exhaust cam lobes were all 33. somat so seemed ok. I cant see any appreciable wear on the inlet cam. but 0.3-0.4 mm seemed a lot

The genuine Yamaha manual has the lower limit to be 32.45mm for the intake, yours is bigger than this so is OK.

Best to download the genuine manual via the site in the workshop section 👍

Download the largest file in the service information section, the 89/90 is 10MB, the RU one is 12MB

Just had a look, you want the 89/90 service manual 19MB file, it should be 446 pages 👍

Cheers creedxup if you lived nearer I would buy you a pint mate. You saved me a fortune in wasted time getting new cams that would be the same as the ones I have.
