Hi Chris,
Yeah the "Y" marks do point to the left side of the engine.
I've taken a pic of the J. that are on the rod caps, so do they mean that, that rod should be installed on journal #1 etc. and if it has 2 dots that's for journal #2 etc.
Or should I just ignore the J. marks and measure the clearance and its within spec use regardless?

I also found this in the engine under the gearbox where the starter cog is that turns the starter clutch where the starter motor goes into the engine casing so im guessing its part of the starter motor

And thats why the engine has been previously dismantled
