Don't get me started on RAC!!!
Last Tues at 11.00 the Benz broke down 3 miles from home.
Finally got through to call centre at 12.00.
Told that flatbed would be with me in about 2 hours.
16.00 No flatbed so called again only to be told the job's been done.
No it bloody hasn't, otherwise I wouldn't be calling.
(Bloody contractor lied)
We'll have to book it as a new job.
FFS I'm losing the will to live.
Just get me a flatbed now!
18.30 RAC guy calls to say he's on his way.
19.00 nice RAC bloke in his orange van turns up.
That's not a flat bed.
No sir, tell me whats wrong.
Flatbed gets ordered.
21.00 Flatbed arrives.
Where to sir?
Well, the original instruction was to my garage down the road. But they'll be closed now.
Better take you home then.
21.45 unload car at home.
Next day at 10.00 I call RAC to get them to finish the job and take my car to the garage.
A truck should be with you in 3 to 4 hours.
Sure enough a truck arrives at 14.00 and heads to my garage.
14.30 my garage calls and says the job is too complicated for them and my car has been sent to Mertrux.
15.30 Mertrux call to tell me they have my car.
By now I have lost two days of my life and the will to live.
And that was before Mertrux told me the cost of repairs.
Reminds me of being told:
You could have got a nice little car for the price of your bike.
I don't want a nice little car. I've got a nice big car already.

Wonder what others on here have used when replacing the camshaft cover gasket? I previously used a little Permatex rubber gasket sealant just to seat the gasket into the cover because it kept falling out when I tried to assemble it dry. I didnt apply any to the half moon part. I do wonder if the gasket was faulty. Only fitted a few weeks ago, NOS from Fowlers. The new gasket is brand new Athena part. Still cant face stripping the bike down again. May wait until August when I have a week off from work, or sell on, as it has cost me a fortuneGoshreally2 wrote:Just a note regarding Blue Hylomar. Before using check to see if the workshop manual states do not use sealant for the particular gasket.
