They are worth checking but I fear you are an optimist Paul. Under the circumstances you describe you wouldn't get fuel pump clicking or exup whirring, but you would get lights, indicators etc etc.

had the same thing when wiring up my fzace the neutral wire from the gear box switch had come apart or i had forgot to connect it i checked fuses relays
the remembered something about these bikes wont start in gear also when battery is goosed i got same effect until i put a fresh charged battery in ju

my exup refuses to spark it has no side stand switch connected do you think this might be the cause i have put battery on charge i thought everything was too easy i had this befor with nuetral wire but nuetral light is on please help anyone

checked clutch killswitch
side stand switch
all the wires
and you guessed it i have popped the cdi i shorted the wiring ages ago and never thought tried a different spark box heypresto

Remind me again what model bike is yours?
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.
