When I bought my bike many moons ago it came with a note book about all the history of the bike. The previous owner had entered everything he'd done with the bike. Which I've kept going, now I have two note books. I've just had a look through the earlier book to see if the previous owner had a new clutch fitted at all and it hasn't. I've been using Motul 5000 10w/40 for quite some years now and the bike has done 57,795 miles without any clutch slip. Up to now anyway. :D

Creedxup gave me a tip about topping up the oil. He told me to put the bike on the side stand and fill it so the oil goes above the sight glass and in Chris's words said give it one for the road, it will take it. :nod: :nod:

Teego I think it was joeboy who did that post about Wilko's oil. I'm not sure if I saved it. I'll go and have a look. :D

I've had a look in my bits and bobs but it's not there and I've done a search to see if joeboy's post is still there but that isn't there either. Bugger!! :(

Motul 5000 4T is the the basic oil that we decided upon for the service bays as it's great although higher quality grades are available on site.

Joeboy suggested 10/40 mineral oil from wilko ages ago and I've used it previously with no clutch problems.

Nowadays, 15/40 or 20/50 appears to be only mineral available, hence my previous question about oils people were using.

I reckon there must be a happy medium of semi synth 10/40 that works well but there appear to be loads of differing opinions over whats best.

So far as topping up with half a litre of 5000 is concerned, unless it's been overfilled and this may be root cause, I've really no idea.

I was going to suggest that you do a complete oil and filter change so u defo know what's in there and right amount...????? thoughts, apart from me clutching at straws! :rolleyes:

You can never do an O&F change too often. You could even get some dirt cheap shit oil and do a flush. Compared to an engine rebuild, lubrication is cheap.

I must admit I used to adhere to the sight glass lines until talking to a mate about oil surge in his R1 engined mini. I was concerned that he might suffer with oil starvation while cornering as his engine is always upright. He said he just puts an extra litre in to combat it. Apparently it's something a lot of bike engined car owners do! I do tend to overfill mine slightly now but I don't see that causing clutch slip. 🤔

I've just ordered some oil this morning because I'm due an oil change. This is a good price.

MOTUL 5000

I've put an order for that oil on Ebay and I've paid for it via PayPal.

I've just had a look in my purchasers, and for the oil order it says payment pending. Does that mean they don't have any in stock. I've never had this problem in the past. Any idea's lads? :retard:

ive been using Castrol power 1 10w40 recently and had no complaints
