seat height

The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

seat height

Post by Should know better »

Due to a) being of a lanky long legged design and b) getting on a bit I find the riding position on the Genny to be rather cramped resulting a rather uncomfortable gear change. Now what I was wondering is does any one have experience of raising the seat height using a thicker foam or using the foot pegs that rotate to allow fine tuning ( at the moment I have no problem changing up but when it comes to down changing I struggle). Or may be I should under take some yoga classes

Cheers, Sean

Hi, Yes you can pad the seat up, it has quite a valley that can be filled.
I made a gel bra for mine, so that is strapped on under the cover, which on mine is now bright blue.
The gel outline is just noticeable as a heart shape, I plan to customise the whole seat further, when I get a minute, with logos and a 1" layer of sponge ontop of the gel bra.
Take into consideration that any extra padding in gel or sponge, will mean your oem cover will probably not fit back on.
I have also redone my Ducati seat, with anthracite carbon fibre look vinyl with memory foam and double skinned for the pilot.
All my seat mods can be removed and reverted back to oem.

Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

Thanks Nuggitt. Hiya Nismo, I see you got booked again on another thread Ha ha lol. Your`e a funny one.
I am charging my camera, this Bandit seat was oem flat, so the hump and cover is from scratch. There is a gel pad inlaid for the pilot and the anthracite
carbon fibre material can be seen on top of it.
Except for the logos which can only be raw edge, all the other edges are hand turned then stitched. Ducati pics when my camera is sorted.
Hi Oldschool no they are outdoors vinyl for durability, can also be done in leather but cost is prohibitive really and it would not take kindly to rain, humidity, sunlight etc.
Leather is king, I work with it everyday, the best vinyls less so but superior to leather for everyday (outdoor) use. Leather would also need loving care to keep it serviceable. Leather for showbikes is acceptable as they never see rain. OGRI

Thought as much.....Question.......What would it cost to simply reupholster a completely standard RU Exup seat in standard black vinyl?
