First ride out this year.

Arrange to meet up to chew the fat, or enjoy a bimble through the twisties.

First ride out this year.

Post by nugget »

Well that's it. I've been out and blown the cobwebs off. It was a bit nippy on the fingers but a very nice ride out. Managed to do 70 miles and ended up at Seaways cafe after calling at Mikes and there was quite a gathering of bikes there. Bike went very well after its long winter sleep.

Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

No. He's had his haircut and he's lost all of his strength a bit like Samson. Bless him!

Well, my first serious ride out / drive out of the year starts tomorrow. 850 miles to the south of France for my brother's cremation. Then back via Annecy. Black Forest, Schwarzwalder Hochstrasse, Baden-Baden, Koblenz etc etc. I've ridden/scratched all these roads on my Foxeye and Gixxer.
This time I can take my wife and luggage in the CLS55 AMG. Need to find out if it has the 155mph or 186mph speed limiter.
Can't even get my head around the 98ron fuel bill at German speeds.

Tout droit mes amis.
Keep on keepin' on.

Great 4 wheeled road trip in the CLS55 AMG.
2530 miles.
Memorable roads among mostly great ones:
Route Napoleon
B500 SchwarzwaldHochstrasse
B258 Koblenz - Monschau
Autobahnen: couldn't make a serious top speed attempt because of the traffic. So only 140mph before hauling down quickly to 60mph.
There was still instant acceleration in the 140mph range and the motor felt strong with the kompressor doing some serious work.
Best time for a flat out run would be sunrise on a Sunday morning with light traffic.
Brakes were excellent through the mountain hairpins and down the autobahnen. So progressive - just squeeze to get the desired retardation - no drama.
Stupendous acceleration and the NOISE from the kompressor and quad exhaust.
Average 22mpg (honest).
Apart from the mpg, rather like a bike.
Keep on keepin' on.
