Swingarm rivnut

The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

Swingarm rivnut

Post by skelly »

Hi all.
I was stripping down an exup swingarm today and the bottom bolt that holds the black plastic chain guide on was just turning, along with the M6 rivnut that sits in the swingarm.
So I cut it off and removed the loose rivnut and now I have a hole.

My question is...
What is the best type of replacement rivnut to use ?
I know there are lots of different ones available so I need one that grabs really well.
Any ideas ?

Cheers.
Skel.
Take the best and make it better.
If it doesn't exist, invent it.

Hiya Skel

I'd go for the same style as they use on wheel chair wheels to fix the hand push rails. They're an aluminium sleeve with metal insert at the far end. They take a fair bit of pulling in situ mind but get good grip. I found it's easier if they're warmed up fairly warm when fitting
