Can the oil /watercooled unit be fitted to older engines

The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

Can the oil /watercooled unit be fitted to older engines

Post by MAV »

Hi All
I wanted to know if the oil/watercooled unit can be fitted to older 1002cc
engines , and blank of the oil ways on side of engine, and get rid of the oil/air
cooler.

From memory the issue is the oil pick up pipes around the oil filter

....it's a very vague recollection tho

There's probably no gain from the mod IMHO. So many problems over the years changing original spec when Yamaha San had spent megabux on development.
Keep on keepin' on.

I cannot remember the specific details from the other forum discussion but pretty sure you need to machine the bolt up parts as newer filter item is shorter?

It can be done but it is not a straight forward unbolt / rebolt affair
