The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

EXUP valve rattle and missing bush

Post by RobJPS »

I took my exup valve out as there was a bloody awful rattle when I started up my 1000 ru after a rebuild.

The valve has a worn stem that sits in the bush within the pipe and is causing a rattle. So I removed both and some how dropped the metal bush on a gravel drive

Would you suggest get a new valve and bush or replace bush with a smaller internal ?

Cheers

They always end up rattling whatever you do.
I would be tempted to just replace the standard bush (i had to replace mine after losing it and it wasn't cheap).
Another alternative is to just remove the exup and blank it off.

It runs so well with the exup so really want to keep it if I can, there is a valve on ebay that looks in better shape than mine so may grab that.

Saw R1 valve on ebay yesterday. They'll also fit if you trim 3mm off the far end shaft

Most of the valve rattle is usually when the valve is resting against its stop. Try adjusting the cables to remove slack 👍

If any body wants a brand new one....

EXUP VALVE PIVOT COLLAR
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.
