I've changed a clutch on an R1 many years ago, but can't remember exactly what I used and how I done it.
My clutch doesn't slip, it just doesn't feel right, there's not much clutch and it's very snatchy.
What parts do I need and have you got any tips on changing the clutch?
Does anybody know if there an explanation on how to change the seals on a clutch slave cylinder on the forum?
I'm going to change the seals and fit a new braided hose over the next couple of months and see how it goes, before fitting a new clutch kit.
It does tell you how to do it in the Haynes manual & is quite straightforward. I changed the hydraulic clutch hose to an Areoquip one & together with Barnett heavy duty springs made a world of difference
You can still buy the slave cylinder repair kit & I preferred the OEM over the pattern one as there was little if any in price between that & a pattern kit
The other mod was to fit a master cylinder from a ZXR750R
The ZXR750 m/c gave a lighter pull....& it looked better than the OEM one.
I'd go with Barnett clutch springs from PDQ before changing the clutch plates. I've still got the same plates even after 55,000 miles, but i've got some OEM plates oiled & waiting to go in as & when they're needed
