Ive heard a couple of stories from guys that race exups on sand that you can use the cdi from the 88 genesis on the later 89/90 r model, allegedly
in doing this its gives more revs and compensates for the running without a valve in the exhaust..your thoughts please

The large valve overlap on the exup engine has been optimised to work in conjunction with the exup valve, if you remove the valve you will mess up the fuelling at low revs, there is no current work around that will fix this, not a CDi swap, or modified pipes, or anything.
you might increase the rev ceiling on a race bike which can be usefull as the bike will only see under 8k rpm when its being started, but for a road bike dropping the valve just makes it unrideable at low revs.
