bit more electrical stuff:
1. fuel meter ground lead - DONE
2. radiator fan - DONE
3. 2 wires for the clock in the tacho/speedo - needs a square 9V battery - DONE
so that only leaves:
1. large battery/starter motor/starter relay, ive cut these wires in preperation for my battery crimper
2. sub-loom for stick coils - when they arrive
Ive made a quick bracket to hold the rear light, fitted the rear light, and fitted all the rear indicators and rear numberplate lights...looking good now. Ive set the 9V battery going so i can see how long it powers the clock for, im hoping its good for several months, maybe 6 months?
With any luck ill be out for a quick test fire up this weekend, before going for a ride i need to sort out a more permanant clock bracket as the current one is 12mm chipboard

wired in the battery, got fresh fuel, bit of choke and fired the bike up first time
all cylinders firing, it even fired the bike up even though i had left it in 1st gear...albeit on the rear paddock stand...but shows the motors got some push
now i need a throttle, and a better heat deflector to attach all the electrics too at the front, a bit of 3mm plastic will be fine...basically whatever the original one was will do, and get a bracket made in aly for the clock, then i can go on the road
ill be looking decidedly odd, but all that should be about to change come summer time...

oh and if anyone wants it, i now have a 8ton hydraulic hexagonal hand press for doing crimping if anyone needs to bowwor it, or wants to send me large diameter cables for crimping, it does up to 70 mm2 in area.

thunderace throttle is here, the throttle cables look a similar length to the fzr1000 so thats good (the thunderace choke cable is a lot longer so will need modifying), ill get the throttle mounted this weekend.
ive made my mk2 version of my clock bracket, need to check it in wood/card first to check clearances and then send it to my mate to cut it. then i need to remove my loom, remove my home made heat deflector and see if he can cut me one in hard plastic, im not sure if anyone will want the cad plans, but ill put them up here if possible.
got a mates zxr400 in for valve clearances this weekend as well...so as his bike is cooling down i might have a spare pair of hands to help me with my loom and throttle...always handy

throttle is modded and fitted...if anyone wants to fit one i would say the cables are about 30mm longer than the fzr1000 ones, not a problem for a standard setup, but with all my moved electrics ill have too see where it lies as the handlebars turn...might have to try and clamp a few of the cables together to keep them from moving...or maybe route it through a longer path-length to take up the slack?
clock bracket is finalised for the time being:
looks like this but will be in 5mm thick aluminium
and this is the heat shield
still needs work as i will think it will hit some of the engine cam-cover bolts...ill get it made in clear plastic so i can judge it...and i think its too short and maybe not the correct width...but they are easy to adjust, it was getting the cutouts and hole positions for the 3 mounting bolts thats the most difficult...mine could be neater and fit closer...but its not gonna make a bit of difference in the ed if i take a slightly wider approach to fitting the shield to the recessed bolt holes.
hopefully getting cut by the end of the week

ill finally have my garage clear in a few days and can start work on bikes again
ive taken ownership of a tank from Glenn (many thanks), once its on i can take the bike and rear plastics to a welder i know and get a price for modifying the rear to hold a 2001 R6 tail unit and what eventually will be a custom seat unit with a hybrid fzr/r6 seat (the front part will be fzr the rear will be r6).
if i can get the seat out of the way that will be a big relief, then its just clocks/lights/tyres and its good for the road (for the moment).
the rear subframe i envisage will be made of two A frames connected at their apex with a bar, then there will be a bar running from that back towards the rear of the plastics. the tail plastic will be attached underneath the seat and with bolts that keep the rear tail tidy in place, that should be sturdy enough. it will have a carrier made that will hold the lithium battery under the seat (in a horizontal position as its got no electrolyte), a set of brackets to hold the exup valve and another tang to hold the starter relay.
I might look at making a drawing, if only for my own pleasure...
