It has few problems:
1. the carbs get starved of fuel occasionally, maybe the ECU or the fuel pump, I'll have a look tomorrow.
2 The EXUP valve has been welded on and there's no cables on it.
3 It needs a new chain and sprocket set.
4 the tickover is very rough. But it pulls like a train once I rev it.
OK, got the seat and tank off today to fit an alarm/remote start and sort out the fuelling problem.
Here's a list of the problems I found:
1. Throttle pull cable threaded sleeve on the carbs has snapped, cable is wearing through.
2 connector is snapped off the fuel tap.
3. no filter box in place!
4 no exup cables or servo.
Looks like I've got a lot to do!
Not riding it until I get a filter box on and the throttle cable sorted.
It's the pull throttle cable that's foobarred, it'll pull even worse if I take that off! HeHe.
The Exup valve plate has been welded on, looks like the famous 2 bolts may have siezed and someone botched a repair - gonna look into restoring the valve over the next month - any bits would be welcome.
The filter box is now back on.
When I took it for a short trip lasty night it was blindingly fast over 4k rpm.
I'm gonna take it carefully for a while, don't want to add myself to the 'Born again Biker' statistics.
Good idea mate..........take it easy. In the same boat meself. 5 years out the saddle and then i buy a ZX10 (88) that went around corners like a B&Q trolley and now the Exup. Veeeeery easy to get yerself into trouble on something that fast.
I take it it's running much better now it's got an airbox on it ?
