Stripped the carbs and did find a load of fine silt in each.
Good clean out and reassemble seems to have done the trick

Sounds to me like you've got some crap in the float valves. What I find odd is that you say it's coming out of both overflow pipes. I've never been that unlucky. Story goes; Riding home other night,pulled up in traffic and it cut out,bit reluctant to restart but did.felt quite woolly at low revs but seemed to pull ok. I had a play with the carbs today, dropped the needles one notch and wound the pilots out 1/2 turn and she runs loads better, hesitation almost gone.
