I was hoping you would say soda. I have seen some astonishing results of soda on aluminium casings and the like. Almost factory finishes achieved. No harm to the environment either. I believe storage can be an issue, namely heat and moisture problems, but I have read it is pretty cheap to buy.

When I did the valves on mine last year I removed the spark plugs (to remove compression), put it into 5th gear and turned over the engine via the shallow nut on the front sprocket. worked fine as long as you keep lateral pressure upon the shallow nut. I cant remember which way I turned ...
