Need to confirm the model/year/build date for 3LE

Hi, I have an FZR1000 EXUP with VIN 3LE-010172. I know that it is a 1990 German model but I'd need to find some evidence to confirm that. I'm applying for a registration as a historical vehicle in Finland and I'd need to be able show it to the inspectors. The 1st registration of the bike has taken p...

Rear brake light switch

1990 3LE. rear brake light switch stopped working:
Can it be repaired or do I need to get a new switch?
To replace the switch, do I need to remove the whole footpeg/brakepedal/master cylinder assembly or can you somehow coax it out without doing it?

Thanks!

Seat band for FZR1000 1990?

Does anyone know if the seat band is available separately and what would be the Yamaha part number? If not, would a seat band from another Yamaha model be suitable? Maybe even from another brand? It should look about the same as I'm planning to get a history registration for my bike and they are qui...

Did the FZR 1990 come with the seat cowl?

I.e. the question is:

I have a 1990 LE model, sold originally in German.

Did the seat cowl come with the bike as original part or was it an accessory and need to be bought separately?

Thanks!

Original Yamaha air filter vs. aftermarket?

The local tech told me that the FZR1000 is very finicky when it comes to air filter. Many running problems can be cured by replacing aftermarket filter with original Yam filter.

Do this forum have any experience of this? I'd like to hear your opinions.

Some update to this topic: I took the bike to a local tech for valve adjustment and after hearing the idle problems he offered to have a check on the carbs for a little extra money. He did some further cleaning and tune-up, sync etc. and now the bike runs PERFECTLY! He's opinion was that all the oth...

Original needles and jetting

I'm thinking about returning my Dynojet Stage 1 modified bike to original spec. The original needles are hard to find but do I remember right that some member in this forum has access to them? Was it Stig? What about the spring, do I need to have that also as an original part? That seem to be also u...

Air leak was what I also suspected first but why it does not do it when I set the idle a bit too low? I also replaced the inlet rubbers with new ones (OEM Yamaha) as well as the rubbers to air filter box. I guess the leak could happen also elsewhere but it did not have this feature before the carb r...

Idle problem

The bike is FZR1000 1990 with Dynojet Stage 1 (Main Jet, needle) After my latest cleaning and syncing the carbs the bike developed a strange problem. Before re-build the bike was running fine but had no idle so I took the carbs apart enough to be able to clean the jets and check the diaphragms/needl...

Thanks Stig! I carefully (I think at least) checked with small mirror that all notches are correctly aligned and that the rubbers are all the way in. No carb balance set in use at the moment. How tight you must turn the clip screws, all the way to the stops? BTW, I switched the left/right side rubbe...

How to install the inlet rubbers?

Hi all, Thanks for adding me. I'm a new FZR1000 1990 owner from Finland. I bought the bike few moths ago and been working on it the last few weeks. This seem to be VERY helpful and competent forum so I wondered if you could help me here... The bike had been standing for 3 years but after having all ...
