oldskoolexup The reserve switch contacts on my RU must have been dirty when I got it as it was playing up......a good dose of switch cleaner solvent seemed to sort it. I've not looked at how the ignitor circuit works but the switch seems to "force" the fuel pump to continue pressurising fu...

Aye, that's true, but this one meets the criteria in all respects. It was of course a consideration, which he'd made clear in the blog. I'll try to dig it up from somewhere, but it was many years/PCs ago...

I did some fairly extensive research a few years ago & ended up reading a blog from a bloke in the States who had a pretty exhaustive [sorry] technical approach which finally resulted in him recommending Shell Rimula R6-LM. Designed for diesel trucks, it has many advantages for bikes, including ...

Non Secure Login to Site

Hi,

Is the webmaster aware that under certain circumstances when resubmitting request to log in, the browser defaults to http:// as opposed to https:// ?

It may be something to do with the original design of the site with http:// in the top-level frame. Or summat.

Cheers

Re: :)

I was thinking about whacking it out..the tyre is still on and hasn't gone down in a few months standingoutside. Will it knock the balance of wheel out? Thanks. danny Hi, I've had a couple of experiences with dinged wheels as you describe. The rear wheel reacts better to anomalies in shape, As for t...

Thought so. I guess they'd have done it if it was possible. Still, fine work, indeed.

It was used by the previous owner, some 14 years ago. When I bought the bike, he'd taken it off for some reason, so it's remained in the cellar since then. It looks fine. I'll rummage around and try to post a photo, although as I'm a newbie, I may not have that privilege.

Hi Stig, thanks once again. I take the EXUP completely to bits and grease it with gun grease every couple of years, so it should come out ok. The plate which holds it in is sort of held on by two out of the three allen bolts, as its corroded, but it still seems to work. Famous last words...

Thank you Stig, I'll consider that seriously. It's due for MOT in June, so plenty of time before then to disassemble it. When the weather smartens up and stops raining into me shed [due to wind picking up the felt on the roof like a fag paper], I'll mop up and have a go. Should be a few weeks yet, s...

Many thanks. When I bought mine in 2004, the EXUP was seized, so in releasing it, I left the valve ever so slightly twisted, just enough to bind when full open and have never managed to completely sort it. The pulley opens and closes it fine, but it's always a niggle. Cheers.
