Hi. I took the carbs off...... which , I believe , have never been removed. The inlet rubber clamps were in such a position that you could only reach one with a screw driver so the carbs had to have been fitted to the engine before it went into the frame . Every screw on the carbs were untouched and...

Not reving above 2k when hot
Hi all. I've had my 89 Fzr1000 Exup for 4 years . I've been riding the bike with the Exup valve fully open for 2 years. The only issue I had was bogging down under 4k when hot and pulling away on a hill. This summer that has suddenly got a lot worse . Then one day is was so bad it wouldn't rev above...

Metal filings in oil
Hi all. Have had my 1000 89 exup for a little while. Gave it a service today and found tiny metal filings in the oil and oil filter housing. Having a look on certain threads it suggests clutch basket or clutch plate breakdown. The bike goes fine with just a minor cam chain rattle when cold. The clut...

fork seal leak
Hi all. When I bought my 89 Exup the RH fork seal was leaking. I changed it 12 months ago and has just started leaking again. Are they prone to this or am I just unlucky ?

Camchain rattle on start up
Hi all. My camchain has started to rattle on start up but for only a couple of seconds. It will then rattle again for a few seconds on initial pull away. After that no problem. I guess the cam on the adjuster is failing and the plunger keeps being pushed back in. Is this a major issue? Can I repair ...

coolant dripping from overflow
Hi all. Was out on a fast ride today. Came back and noticed a couple of drips of coolant coming out of the overflow. It stopped as soon as the engine was off. Is it the thermostat on its way out ? I've had a thermostat go on another bike but on that occasion the coolant gushed out at the end of the ...

saturday ride out
For those of you who don't venture out when it's only 3 degrees I'd thought I'd let you know I had a 110 mile round trip from Salisbury to Swanage yesterday. It was cold but worth it for the pics I got of the bike by the sea with an amazing blue sky above. Anyone out there who lives in the south coa...

camchain slight rattle on 89 Exup 1000
Hi Exup gods. Have noticed that a couple of times the timing chain has rattled for a few seconds on start up and then fine. Guess it's the tensioner sticking. Is there any probs with these or mods? Or is it simply a time to replace. Thanks chaps.
