Hi all, believe it or not I still have a problem and cant get the bike to run right at all. Ive checked for leaks using carb cleaner but cant find any. I have new carb rubbers and clamps, new air filter and plugs. Float height has been set to 14mm. I have to set the mixture screws to 3 1/2 turns out ...

Yet another disassemble and rebuild but still the same. Blip the throttle and the revs stay about 2000 then go down slowly.
I did notice what could be a hairline crack in the carb 4 top. Ive tried to do a temporary fix with epoxy but the cap doesn't sit very flat around the o-ring area. There's a ...

Although I have other problems I had the same sort of issue on my FZR1000 exup. I went as far as replacing the clutch plates which didn't make much difference (made the level feel smoother and lighter !!!) but ive now dressed the fingers on the clutch basket which had some noticeable indentations ...

Well......new rubbers have not made any difference. So i've tried spraying carb cleaner on others parts of the carbs and i've found that if I spray near the coupler connected to the overflow pipe between carbs 3 and 4 the revs rise! I know that the fuel inlet pipes couple close by too. There are no ...

I've cleaned the carbs again and put them back on. This time I tried the carb cleaner and when the revs "hung" i sprayed each carb in turn and on cylinder 4 the revs rose straight away. I've looked at the connecting rubber and it looks OK, but i've ordered a set of new ones anyway. The carbs have ...

Fuelling problems after rebuild
I've done the valve clearances which were very tight all round. After the rebuild I'm having fuelling problems. Ive cleaned the carbs several times but the revs are "hanging"....they stay high after blipping the throttle. On a short run the bike was stuttering as if it was fuel starvation. I'd not ...

Knowing when a camchain is due for renewal?
Apologies for yet another question.....my bike has 31,000+ on the clock. I guess it sounds a bit "rattly" to me (but might be quite normal of course) - could this be the camchain at all and is it possible to check this and / or the tensioner? I've been tempted to check the valve clearances too ...

Thanks - generally my floats have a bit of spring in them but still compress under the weight of the float itself. i've tried the idea of tipping the carbs a bit so the tang just rests on the pin - this gives better results. Anyway after re-checking yesterday I took the bike out for a good ride at ...

Ohlins Shock - Standard Settings ?
I have an Ohlins S46HR1C1 shock but I'm not sure of the "standard" settings. Does anyone have experience of this shock (or similar)? The range of adjustment (clicks) is pretty large. At the moment I'm about midway on both compression and rebound? Apologies if this type of question has been asked ...

Thanks for the information - I didn't actually realise that there's a spring under the float needle pin so it does look like the weight of the float is compressing it and giving a false reading. I'm pretty sure all four carbs have the same "problem" (by the way the bike has 31K miles). Measuring the ...

Carb float height measurement
I've spent a while cleaning my carbs (1990 exup) but i'm confused about the float height. The manual and other posts say 12-14mm upside down with the carbs level however mine all measure consistently 10 to 10.5mm to the top of the float. Unless I'm mistaken one side of each float seems to a bit ...
