Re: First ride out this year.
I blew the cobwebs off, but only very gently. I was a bit rusty for the first 10 mile or so, but it soon comes back.

First ride out this year.
After having a few teething problems with a dodgy wire in the ignition block, that stopped my rear lights, and my side light\parking light from not working, and a faulty fan switch. I managed to get out for the first time this year.

It looks a bit like green pond water.

That could be an empty box for all we know. If there is a battery in that box, don’t you need a bike to fit it too. Have you found it yet?

Blue, Silver and Gold spot seals.
I've been helping a friend of mine out with his Yamaha FZ1N 2007. I'm stripping all of his brakes down, and fitting all new parts in them for him. I won't bore you with all the details. Some of you may already know about this company, but if you don't, this could help you out.

Radiator cap.
I'm thinking of replacing my radiator cap. Does anybody know if there's one that will fit apart from using an OEM one? I've looked on Fowlers and WEMOTO. They both do them for around £45 ish. I've seen some on eBay that look identical for very little money. I can't measure my radiator cap to check ...

Stig, why have you let him back on here? I thought we'd finally got shut of him once and for all.
You try to help these young'uns with good advice, but they just don't want to listen to their elders.

Re: compatible paddock stands
From what you’ve done. It does sound like a wheel bearing on the way out. I use an old engine mounting bolt. Put the hexagon end through the bearing hole till it touches the outer race of the bearing, and then knock the bearing out gently with a hammer, then do the other one the same way. Use the ...

It's Sunday, so I'm off to church.
Last week, I was talking to a Vicar (he's a biker) about the bike doing over 100,000 miles. He said that's amazing. You'll have to bring it to my church (St Augustines) in Hedon near Hull, and I'll bless it for you. Today I did just that. The Vicar sprayed it with some Holy water, and gave it a damn ...

One mission completed
Had a ride out yesterday, to get over the 100,000 mark. I had one mile to go, and I ended up in the middle of Scarborough in a queue of traffic due to road works, and I was unable to stop to take photos of the change over. I had to pull in to a housing estate which was a Cul-de Sac (a small one at ...

That’s a beauty. I think quite a few of us would love one of those in the garage. I certainly would. A bit too expensive for my pittance of a pension.

Re: Solenoid
I've had a look on CSMNL to cross reference the solenoid numbers. For the 87\88 it says 42X8194000.
For the 89\90 it says 36Y8194000.
Am I right in thinking if the last eight numbers match, they are the same?

Re: Solenoid
I did have a problem. I thought it was a dying battery at first, but it turned out to be dead solenoid. I had a spare one in stock, so changed it, and all sorted now. I have seen one for a 1988 model on flea bay but not sure if it’s the same as a 1989/1990. From what I’ve seen on eBay the one from ...
