YET ANOTHER PROJECT
YET ANOTHER PROJECT
As if there wasn't enough to occupy my time, I have now set myself up with another project
Dad passed away recently and left 2 cars (mum doesn't drive)
This particular one has been owned from new and covered 55K. I actually went to buy it with him and test drove it...it was always going to be mine one day said dad
so you that know your motors will recognise this one
for those who don't.............
Its a 1.6, 16V Toyota Corolla GT Twincam RWD (aka AE86) 1987
needs a bit of work for a few rust spots but apart from that its sound.....drives soooooooo sweet
ah well....something else to never sell....Help, I'm running out of room

true that one RutzRutz wrote:wondered where you got the cleaning impulse from
when I was 7, I had a brand spanking Raleigh chopper for xmas. Dad said, "make it last you a nd look after it...its the only one you're getting"
sure enough, used to clean it every week. It was immaculate when we sold it 5 years later

you certainly remember rightapness wrote:120hp if I remember right, nippy car at the time, but corollas of that vintage tended to be a bit (ok, a lot) soft in the corners. If it's anything like other Car-Rollers I drove, gearchange will be great and everything will work.
Nice
not too sure about the roll in corners tho'
the suspension on this one rattles yer teeth out coz its so firm .
They were originally built for homologation purposes in the rally scene, so LSD and vented dics are std fitment.
feels wicked when you put your foot down and feel the rear struggle for grip from one side to the other
as you say the gearbox and engine as soooo sweet, even for a 20 year old motor. Brakes need looking at tho' coz they feel a bit wooden compared to modern stuff. Still work ok though

Nice car dude I got my 61 Triumph speedtwin of my dad, he gave it me, hes still with us in body, but sadly his mind as gone. He owned the bike for 25 years, took me to primary school on it and secondary school, went all over on it me & him. It will be back on the road this year, first time for a long time. I'll never sell it, keep till I die.
If I have to understand, don't bother to explain.
