The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

not turning over

Post by two-stroke-brit »

hi all, when i got the bike (89 fzr1000) the carbs were off so i tested the sparks
all four old plugs sparked replaced with new.motor spun no issues
and tried to test for compression(inconclusive due to sitting for 20 years )
now carbs back on and no neutral light (its not in gear rear wheel spins on stands)
and it will not crank. :(
checked all the fuses on the left side tail.
most lights come on.
tried with the sidestand up and down.
need a cuppa to think on it.
thanks in advance mark

i decided to check all the dash bulbs.
and managed to pull one of the rubbers apart which dissapeared into the clock assembly.(30 year old rubber)
so took it apart got the little bugger out .
reassembled the cluster and back on the birdcage but not connected to the loom .
turned the key and there was a ticking sound from the fuel pump (not happened before) and now it cranks.
i also noticed the side stand is down so maybe a dodgy stand switch ?
ran out of time so i left it for the time being.
all ideas are welcome
thanks mark
