Hello group. Thanks for the add. I just picked up a '97 YZF1000 project. I know it had a bad motor when I bought. Question is. will any EXUP FZR1000 motor fit? Thanks in advance.

The motors physically fit but from memory the headfixing points aren't quite the same
The later RU and after are better as they have the spin on oil filter and the oil cooler/ radiator set up is more alike to the ace than the 89/90 R models set up

:welcome: btw

Thanks Stig. You're right the head mounts are different. I figured I could swap heads with my YZF head. I've found a YZF motor though so now no worries. I'll post up some pics of my project.

Welcome in Kurt. Sorry I'm late in replying.
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.
