Oil filter.

The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

Oil filter.

Post by davesweet63 »

Hi all I have recently got an 89 FZR. I wanted to change oil and filter, when I took the filter off according to the Yamaha work shop manual diagram, it shows a washer between the filter and the spring to the front end of the housing, it's the washer number 6 in the picture, mine didn't have one or if it did I didn't notice it but I was careful when taking the old filter out . Will this affect the lubrication system or is it ok to not have the washer? any idea of where I can get a new one if needed? Thanks in advance for any advice. https://imageshack.com/i/poC0F684g[/img]

Check the old filter as they stick to the ends of the cartridge
Best to replace it if lost

Prob get the part from Fowlers or ask if anyone has one from a scrap engine

It was fiveways Dave. Spot on mate, and they've upgraded to a biscuit tin now. A Fox's one too.
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.
