Submarine Exup

Post by matzxr »

Hello all, Newbie to Exup ownership.
Had a semi-productive 4hrs working on latest
project, 1990 exup, covered in ugly throughout !!!
Having finally managing to remove the fairings (held
on with stripped ali cap heads and seized mild steel bolts)
I can see the true state of the bike !!
Looks like it's spent the last few years next door to the
Mary Rose !!!!!! Everything is corroded !!
Coolant system is empty !!! ?
Stubby end can came off taking the end of the
headers along with it !!!!!
Looks like I'm not gonna have much fun trying to
remove headers, studs are covered in rust, reckon they'll snap.

Will be requiring many parts very soon.

Good luck with the project

It may pay you to heat up the head casting around the studs and wind the studs out the head or cut the heads of the bolts in half with a nut splitter or dremmel

No-one then !!!!!!
Had a more productive day today, managed to remove
the headers without snapping any studs.
After removing the tank I've found individual cone filters
on the carbs and the exup servo missing :crybaby:
More bloody parts needed !!!!!
