Battery Issues and Voltages..HELP

Post by scotty »

Hi guys,

I'm an eejit when it comes to sparks, so I could do with a few of you genius's help here....

My bike has been playing up when going to start, ie it wont unless I jump it. Runs fine, no issues but when I stop for fuel or a coffee the bloody thing wont start again, starter just clicks....

Here's what I've got re voltages.

Bike been sitting idle for a week after a 100 mile run.

Batt voltage ignition off 9.94 V ( I know this is way off )
Batt voltage turn key and press start 5.12 V, lots of sparking noises from just behind battery...

Connect jump leads and bike starts 14.4 V, still connected via leads on tickover.
Disconnect leads 14.1 V on tickover
14.7V at 2000 rpm.

Why wont the battery charge wile out for a run, is it fecked.....

Any help appreciated
