I shouldn't make fun really. :D

My calf muscles look like knots in cotton.

I can see a thread coming up soon saying show us your legs
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

Right then, lets get back on topic shall we!! :D

Just a small update, whilst I'm waiting for some exhaust springs to arrive along with some stainless rivets I busied my self today by cleaning my calipers, bowl of soapy water and a toothbrush is the key!!
Then checked all the bleed nipples move (as these will be replaced at a later stage) and cleaned and stripped the clutch slave cylinder.

Image

Whilst the slave cylinder was apart it seemed like an ideal opportunity to paint it as the gold won't match anything else on the bike!!

Image

Then decided to play with the exhaust some more!!
Made some spring clips to weld to the link pipe (from an old wire coat hanger :D )

Image

Then spent a good half hour squaring off the link pipe header end with a flap wheel, as I'd cut it on the piss!.

Image

Next cleaned the inside of the other end with a rotary bit as it only pushed into the can 10mm and it should go in by 27mm.

Image
Image

That sorted I sat with a cuppa and studied the can mount.

Image

Despite spending a great deal of time the other day carefully bending the can strap to closely follow the contours of the can, I'm not happy with the aesthetics of it, it looks like an add on and I prefer the look without it.
It seems cleaner, but the can needs support of one sort or another.

Image

So I came up with the idea of something like this.

Image
Image
Image

Not the final shape, just a rough idea in paper, finished bracket will be made from ally sheet and attached by drilling out the existing rivets and re-rivetting.
Opinions please!!!

I dont like the can at all on your bike..... Sorry.
It seems too big and doesnt match in with the styling of the rest of the bike.
I think a Buell type under the bike style silencer would have been better, exiting just before the rear wheel.

That's exactly what I will be looking at for my project. Any ideas how to do it, I have the headers and that's all.

Oh, and also bare in mind these pics are taken at close quarters so the can looks bigger than it is due to the "fish eye" nature of my mobile phones camera :D

Close up the can seems bigger than it is!

Image

Not so big when viewed from a distance :D

Right then, broke out the cardboard to hash out a bracket template

Image

Ally cut, but obviously looks 'KIN ugly

Image

So came up with a little design more pleasing to the eye

Image

Excess ally trimmed off

Image

Test fitting for the umpteenth time just to make sure

Image

Bracket looks ok from here which is what I'd hoped for

Image

So after a little final trimming its out with the polishing mop

Image
Image
Image

So this is where I am, waiting for some more rivets to arrive as I bought a 10 pack cos I only needed 9.
But now I have drilled 2 more out to mount the bracket I'm 1 short

What size are the rivets? I've got a box of 500 4.6 x 10 stainless at work still I think. Can post you a handfull if any good.

If my opinion's worth owt. :paranoid:

I think that can looks fine as it is. It's all down to budget, but like you say if anything better comes along ok but if it doesn't I think it wears it well.
