Yeah, I hear where your coming from Grim but I have come to a decision, more to follow.Grim Reaper wrote:The exhaust has got to be in the higher level. If you had chosen to put it down low it would have spoiled all the hard work you've put into this.
Is there not a place that you can drive into and they custom make link pipes for you? Can't remember the name of the place now
Fangs "new" toy!!
Never Ever Bloody Anything Ever!!!
Right then, alternative "low rise" bars arrived in the post and were duly unwrapped,
only to discover that there ain't much differance between them and the set of black bars I tried earlier,
But as they were here I thought I'd chuck them on and give them a squizz.
Dont like them, arse, from the front the bike looks "surprised" if you see what I mean.
Plus it put strain on the wiring and throttle cables.
So went back to the drag bars, much prefer this look, more aggressive!!
And yes that is Lisa hiding behind the white towel (to give a clearer outline of the bike)
So I'll see how much of a pain in the arse it is to plumb in the master cylinders, although I did cut off the "banjo stop" on the clutch to get a little more angle on it.
If it proves to be a pian in the arse then I'll see about making some 10mm spacers to raise the risers a touch.

Right then, thanks for the input on the exhaust situation, it has all been digested and pondered over, and after a few afternoons of investigation with several cups of tea I have made a decision.
I am going with the low option!!
The reason being that there is no easy way to neatly mount the can high up without inducing any ridiculous bends to allow for swingarm clearance, heel clearance, getting it to follow the existing lines of the bike, etc etc.
As i say it can be done, but it would look like an afterthought, and I dont want it looking like this!!
Plus as I mentioned earlier in this thread I do like the clean look of the rear end "hovering" above the wheel and think the high can interferes with that look.
So I went and looked at what link pipes I had.
Didn't want to shorten the Stainless Exup one as it took me an age to find it, and I don't want to lose the option of changing the can on my Exup should it ever arise!
So I opted to shorten the one that came with the FZ.
Cant go back now!!
But as Mr Previous Owner had hammered a flat in it to allow for rear brake pedal clearance, I had to reverse this process by whacking it with a hammer over a makeshift anvil.
Took a bit of tinkering and have had to rotate it to gain the clearance on the swingarm, but I like it!!
More to follow, but now off to the pub!!

Lisa is now paranoid and starting the preceedings for a restraining order whilst muttering something about "paying too much attention to detail"Stig wrote:V nice pic of Lisa Hairs changed colour slightly since we last saw her
You're a very lucky man Fang You spend far too much time in the garage
BTW, do you take the camera EVERYWHERE?????
I'm lucky if I'm allowed to post 1 pic of her every 6 months, after her final approval of course
And its the camera on my phone, so it is with me everywhere, how else am I gonna give the bandwidth a kicking!!
Never Ever Bloody Anything Ever!!!
Anyhow, on with the escapade!!
Wheeled her outside to get a few better shots of the "decided upon" exhaust location.
then got Lisa to take a pic of me on it (apologies for any distress the following pic may cause )
Then wheeled her back in the garage to make a support bracket, which happened to come in the post attached to the high level pipe!!
A little bit of fettling to allow fitment of the rear brake banjo, and we are away!!
And as an added bonus I can mount the rear brake recervoir to this as well, happy days!!!
Enough of this tom foolery, drinking times a wasting!

Oops, Lisa's now added your name to the restraining order, citing paying too much attentionVagabond wrote:It seems Lisa is very posh, little pinky finger has been noted...
... or is that just because she couldn't get her middle finger extended??
But yes t'is a piss take on all the posh twats round here.
She would never give the finger to any Exup forum member, despite owning a H***a
