Thanks Dave but mine is an '89 and I have a fairing.
I just need to put a catch tray into it so that it is legal to race.
With other modifications being a bit more urgent I just decided to leave it off until I go to Eastern Creek.

No, New Era 1 ends December 1989. Newer brakes would put me into New Era 2.
I have put some new Hel brake lines on and will get some EBC Gold Sintered pads.

Thanks Dave

One of the things that has been keeping me busy is sorting out the electrics.
I wish to fit a race seat and so I decided to move most of the electrical components into the nose of the fairing.
I also got rid of the ignition switch and replaced it with a toggle switch.

The rear seems too stiff already.
So what's a good starting point for spring, compression and rebound?
I weigh 77kg.

hi mark welcome nice to see yer givin it some. if ya can try and get some RU usd forks make a hell of a difference will tip in alot quicker and make it more positive also lift the the back end up around 25-30mm

just soften the spring for a start a bit at a time and make a note of how far you,ve moved it so you can put it back if you go to far

USD forks are not allowed in the New Era 1 race class. NE1 goes to end 1989.
Tim has them on his FZR and so he races in New Era 2. NE2 goes to end 1995.
I'll stick with New Era 1 for 2007 while I get the hang of such a big bike.

The FZR is looking a bit better now that the fairing is fitted.
My lap times are slowly coming down too.
And I am actually enjoying it rather than scaring myself silly.

Nice tight line - looks like you're about to stuff number 86 up the inside.

Assuming you're not number 86 of course, in which case I think you've run it a bit wide, mate!
