Was followed in the car (too closely imo) by a marked bobby the other night when transporting a 90 year old home.

I was convinced me travelling at just under 30 raised suspicion????

Seems to me you just cant win!!!!

SO.....Is just cause needed???

The other week I was on my way to Beverley in the car. As I entered a 30 limit I noticed a cop bike come up behind me. No idea where he came from. I was doing 30 and the car in front of me was pulling away from me. He must've been doing 40mph. I kept looking in the rear view mirror and the cop was still behind me. I thought the cop was watching him pull away and would take action shortly. He did no such thing. He stayed behind me for 12 miles until I was in the middle of Beverley. I must admit I was getting a bit paranoid.
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

You could be right because I do have identical number plates.

Yes that's true about the female biker, though I wouldn't call her "a young girl" Other expletives come to mind when I think of my dealings with her earlier this year.

First ride out this year on my BMW S1000RR with a couple of mates. She was coming the other way with a Police BMW bike close (very) close behind. Anyway a few miles down the road plod had set up a road block and pulled us in. Plod there told us we had to wait for video evidence to arrive.
Sure enough these two bike cops turned up. The female cop was ranting about us nearly killing her by our dangerous riding. She then showed us the footage of two bikes, a 'Blade and BMW coming the other way, just entering a left bend in the road. The 'Blade's wheels where just on the broken single white line in the centre of the road, whereas the BMW (me)
had its wheels just on the wrong side of the line. They let my mate off but started to tell me I would be going to court and was being charged with the lesser "crime" of careless driving. Yes I know I shouldn't have been where I was on the road at that time, but honestly, dangerous driving and nearly killing her. What a load of exaggerated Bollocks. To be honest, I knew I had f****d up and thought they would give me a good bollocking which I probably deserved, but no, it had to go to court.

Anyway, someone of higher authority must have looked at the footage and deemed that it wasn't as bad an offence as the female plod had made out it was, and offered me a driving course in a car for 3 or 4 hours. It was less cost than the fine would have been, with no points. No brainer really and a graciously accepted their kind offer. I had a good afternoon out with an examiner and enjoyed it all.

I'll bet she was right pissed off when she found they didn't go along with all her over the top bull shit

Can someone please confirm if the police have the right to do this?

Not making a big deal of it but, doesn't there have to be a "motoring infringement" or fault noted (e.g. light not working) or the obvious ANPR signal that there's no insurance etc??

Thoughts lads?????

Oh well, I suppose one answer to your question is that they may say that they have "reasonable cause" considering the percentage of sports bikes that have loud cans and small plates.
Nothing to do with safety. More to do with local politics.
If I go to Lincolnshire I don't see one plod or camera in 150 miles.

I've put it right for you Teego.
