speedo facelift

Post by yzfpaul »

i've given my clocks a facelift
the old yzf 750 ones rev too high for the thou motor
and when i had the bike first time round i painted the red line in manually (with yellow paint ? cant remember why that was lol)

this is RF 9's pic of the clocks when he had it in 2006
note the mileage 22k
rf9rider wrote:Bugger, wrong pic!

this is the clocks before i dismatled them the good sign is the bikes done 8k miles in 4 years so all the new bearings RF installed on the bike in his rebuild will be good for a few years more

Image

these are the clocks with the thunderace dials installed it will give it a more
up to date look and the redline is now what it should be

well the engines now out of the bike and stripped
its taken a few days but i've been methodical
the barrels have gone away to TTS to be honed for a 1040 piston kit
and i've picked up a thunderace crank
have also ordered a complete set of crankshaft bearings
and am considering a 6 speed box but not sure atm
will follow up with pics as usual

update

is christmas in my garrage atm :D
my new barrells pistons and crank have arrived last week from TTS
have been building the bottom end with a 6 speed box yzf clutch basket and new clutch plates n springs
have put the new lightened and balanced thunderace crank in with new big end bearings, con rods and small ends and 1040 pistons now all on and tripple checked torque settings of bolts
barrels were put on yesterday, new timing chain and all valve clearances are now what they should be

the bodywork is almost done and spoke to Keith today to give him an update of when they should reach him

will post up some pics later

almost there

Post by yzfpaul »

started it up today and sounds like a F15 fighter jet
i did some research and found out a 2003-2005 r6 exhaust slots strait in
and the link pipe bends perfect so i bought a racefit exhaust off fleabay it sounds awsome

the nose cone is now back from the fabricators and is nothing short of
magical they rearly have pulled out all the stops and it looks the dogs

i'll need to work out how to post a video to show you all how she sounds

keith has the seat unit and mudguard so as soon as i sort out the front fairing mirror stay and hoover pipes the nosecone bellypan and tank will also be sent out to him

i just cant wait for it all to finally come together its been a long 10 months
of blood sweat and tears
