There's the R and RU models...both EXUP

the R came first ( as always)

and then the RU...this has the A shaped piece as part of the frame near the seat and also upside downer forks...there are loads of other differences but they are the most obvious

Mines a R model...which ran from 89 to 91ish and was later replaced with the ru until 95

1040's is the RU

you can see if you look in the gallery

I'm sure the experts on here will correct me if I'm wrong, but the RU (launched 1991) was the next generation of the R (launched 1989) and featured a few changes e.g. USD forks, different subframe, single headlight etc. The history of the FZRs from '87 "Bike of the year" onwards is here:

Cheers, just need to get the high speed running sorted - see Workshop forum!

Good thing is it runs fine under 100mph, so it helps preserve my license.

Yippie kai ya.... :D
Another silver beastie on the board...
Welcome dude.
I see you've got a poished frame which rocks, if you remove the standard indicators i reckon you'll get another 20 mph over the ton, i did.

I think what's really holding me back is that both it's mirrors are right hand mirrors, for some reason I can't see any improvement for going round right hand bends.

Anyone out there got a left hand mirror, silver if possible coz they have a lower coefficient of friction. :\
