Well Chaps, mixed results to report.
Finished the hugger, couple of small runs in the laquer but it`ll do for now as i`m getting fed up of redoing stuff, i just want it on the road
Seat panels are ready for final flatting and polishing.
But the tail piece joiner is another disaster, laquer has lifted the decals AGAIN
Guess what i`m doing over the weekend.......again

Cheers Daz, its been left a week to harden, but still feels soft in places.WAKWAK wrote:let your hugger dry properly and they will flat out no problem
I`ve read elsewhere that this Halford paint and laquer takes longer than normal to dry for some reason.
Some of the decals on the hugger have also lifted slightly, but as i say, it will do for this year.
As for the tail joiner, when i do it again, i`m going to try it another way, give it a couple of light coats of laquer to seal in the decals, then leave that to dry for a couple of days, then give it some heavier/wet coats.
Unless anyone has any other ideas?
This was supposed to be a cheap spray job, but so far with the mistakes its costing a small fortune and putting finishing date further and futher away.
It might be on the road for Christmas Day at this rate.

you got anywhere warm to put it say an airing cupboard etc ?
or if you have a garage space heater put it in the garage shut the doors and crank the heater up for 2 or 3 hours thatll help
same for the tail piece lighter coats leave it in a warm spot for as long as you can
we used to get problems with some vinlys if we used a heavy wet coat as the solvent in the laquer didnt dry quick enough before it reacted with the decals so lighter coats is the way to go mate once they have gone off the decals are sealed so the wet coats should not affect it

Chaos, panic and disorder ... my work here is done.

I finally bought and tried some rubbing compound.
I tried flatting and T-cutting the tank, but it didn`t come up very well, but the rubbing compound has made it all nice and shiny, but you can see some imperfections in the paint where i didn`t flat the paint back properly.
Well, i`m still learning, so next time i will get better.
Started to flat the seat panels, and started with the rubbing compound, can you see the difference viewers?
