when i ran a standared air box. u need to take the filter out.
u cant get enought air to the 1000 engine and u end up bogging it pull well to 9000rpm then she stop.

if i was u.
i use open K&N filter. therfore not using the airbox. and all the problems with the tank gap.
i went for flatsides with trumpets.

Steve, I had thought of that, though i would have thought that i would need to start rejetting it etc.
I wanted to avoid this, though might have to in the end.

how about using the FZR carb rubbers & sealing them to the ACE air box somehow ?

FZR rubbers are too small for the hole, thats why im thinking of cutting out the bottom of the 750 box so the rubbers will fit.

Going to try a FZR airbox next, see what that looks like.

How about just cutting off the strip that has the holes for the rubbers and glueing it onto the bottom of the airbox without cutting any of the airbox you are going to use.
That way all the carb rubbers should be in the right place to accept the carbs

Thats what i meant, perhaps i didnt explain it properly!
Going to cut the strip from my 750 airbox and glue it on bottom of Ace airbox.

Just to update, ive filled it up with new coolant, found a leak from the inlet water jacket joint, one of the O rings is split.
Also the fuel pump seal is leaking, just awaiting on Yamaha shop to open so can order some O rings and a new seal.
Battery should be here today so maybe can try starting it!

Well Chaps, fuel pump seal on order, should be here Tuesday.
Got the water pump O rings, fitted, no more leaks from that.
Filled up with oil.
And my battery arrived this morning (Thanks Chris

And now the best bit.

Put a bit of petrol in, not a lot as the fuel pump leaks a little, fired her up and away she went!

New can sounds very nice, not too loud but very throaty.

Spotted another water leak coming from underneath the water pump itself, but who cares, at the moment, im chuffed to bits!

Credit to Jon (Exupfreak) for the rebuild, i havent had to do anything to the motor, it fired up first time. Cheers Jon!

Next job is to sort out the airbox.

Yes mate, YZF clocks, afterall, it is a YZF750 with a FZR1000 motor.
Not sure if it works yet, havent got that far.
Cant see why it wouldnt work.
