And a bit shorter than the standard FZR1000 cans, only 38mm long.

Well, spent Sunday afternoon in the garage soldering some new plugs onto the wiring loom.
All fitted, hopefully?
Just awaiting battery to fire her up!

I sleep during the day. (work nights)

Im lucky, ive got a good, easy job, 30-35 hours a week driving a lorry.

Some nights i only work 3-4 hours, then i get to spend a couple of hours in the garage working on the bikes, before i go to bed.

Well, Got the carbs on, had to remove the coils to get to the screws, then fitted the choke and throttle assembly.
(Yes Jon, i did tighten the carbs this time!)
No time to fit the airbox, as i have to change the rubbers from the Thunderace to the YZF750 ones.

Well Chaps, came accross my first real problem.
Went to fit the Thunderace airbox, and found the rubbers to big for the FZR1000 carbs.
Tried my YZF750 rubbers, they fit the 1000 carbs, but are too small to fit in the Ace airbox.
Im going to have to cut out the bottom of the 750 airbox where the holes are, then stick this onto the Ace airbox so the rubbers fit.
As you can see, the holes are quite different in size!

can't you split the 2 air boxes & use the ACE top & FZR lower bit

then glue it all back together with silicon or something like that :D

or have i just made the job harder

No mate, thought of that, the internals are different.
The Ace box uses a round filter, the YZF filter uses a flat square one, and ive been told the airflow is different too.
Nice idea though!
