Newbie with 1990 model

Post by Maahoosive »

Hi All

I have just "acquired" a 1990 model (last had one in '92!) which is pretty standard & I am going to do my 1st gentle resto. So a couple of basic questions if you please:

Were the white mirrors originally painted from factory as mine have been and flaking badly?

What is the factory colour/code for the pearlescent white as I want to get a couple of parts resprayed and if anyone recommends where to go to for the paint?

Hi and welcome.
My mirrors were painted white originally.

The Yamaha paint code is YAM 01

It's a white base coat with pearl flip covered by clear coat

RS Paints online should be able to help but it's not cheap

Welcome to the last repository of Exup expertise. Some members are on the verge of forgetting who they are (but Matron will remind them if they ask) although they probably know the part number for the smallest and least needed grommet.

Stig has deep theoretical knowledge based on years of examining his bike, exup valve and helmet but not actually getting the beast on the road.
Nuggitt is more practical as he actually rides and fettles his bike. having rescued it from a Greek island and availing himself of the tempting roads of East Yorkshire.
Me? First Yam was a 1986 Genesis thou. Sold in 1996 when it started having expensive problems. I bought my Foxeye new in 1996 and sold it in 2010 with 47000miles.
Bought a GSXR750 - magic machine and sold it in 2018 with 45000miles.
Bought a CLS55 AMG to fill the adrenaline hole.
Not sure anyone needs my life story, but there you are.
Keep on keepin' on.
