Original Yamaha air filter vs. aftermarket?

The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

Original Yamaha air filter vs. aftermarket?

Post by Jamolo »

The local tech told me that the FZR1000 is very finicky when it comes to air filter. Many running problems can be cured by replacing aftermarket filter with original Yam filter.

Do this forum have any experience of this? I'd like to hear your opinions.

I ran K&N filters in my Exup and GSXR for thousands of miles with no problems.
These were air box filters. Pod filters can be difficult.
Keep on keepin' on.

I've just replaced my OEM filter for a K & N one. I've only had a couple of rides with it fitted and the bike is running fine with it.
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.
