petcock 1989 model

Post by two-stroke-brit »

Hi All, when i got the bike it came with a spare tank and a NIB petcock. :)
going to instal it and it has a slot in the plastic knob but no handle to turn it with .
is it missing ? as i dont see anything on the partzilla site.
its really tight to turn even with a screwdriver.
thanks mark

The original fuel tap is just a plastic peice with a slot in it.
Just turn it with a flathead screw driver
They can become brittle and break.

Forget the petcock and fit an inline tap like this. If and when you want to take off the tank turn it off by the tap and pull the pipe off by the left hand side and job done. It's a lot easier than trying to turn it off under the tank with a screwdriver. Like itsnotagenesis says the plastic part gets brittle and can break off. I got the tap off Ebay for little money.

Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.
