Oh bugger..

The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

Oh bugger..

Post by Justincoleman »

Well I have stripped my exup valve for maintenance.
Silly me didn't know about the washer on the other side of the valve on the spindle when I took it out and now I can't find it... either I have lost it or it didn't have one in the first place. Does anyone know anywhere that will just sell one of those or does anyone have a spare one lying around they could sell me? Many thanks

Have a look at this Justin.

Scroll down the page till it shows you all the bits and pieces of the exup valve. Then click on the picture.

Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

Is it still in place in the exhaust rather than missing?
Are you sure it came out when you removed the exup?

I think what would be best is for me to take a picture of all the components I have and then you kind people could tell me what is missing 😂

Here is my video.
As you can see when I point the camera in the exhaust you can see the Bush is still in its place inside the exhaust. I have the spring and washer on the housing end. There should be two parts on the far side spindle on the valve. One like I said is still in its seated position in the exhaust and the other little one is no where

From what I've seen on the video. It looks to me that the shaft on the valve end will fit in the far bush and you don't need the collar part?? Its very odd. :retard:

That collar should sort it out Justin. Let us know how you go on.

When the valve is assembled at the face plate end, the washer, spring and pulley wheel keep the valve close to the back of the face plate with hardly any movement
The far end of the valve still fits into the far bush without the collar. In all honesty I can't think why the collar is even needed in the first place

Well the part arrived (from fowlers) good fast delivery
All put back together. When I first tightened the housing there was quite a bit of resistance in the valve turning freely but I thought I will get it all back together and see what happened.
When I put the pulley on and did the bolt up it freed the valve off and now turns freely with not much effort with my hand.
Put the cables back on and adjusted them. The fork resets over the hole and is working well. Gonna buy new cables though as adjusting them I actually had to adjust them that must the adjusting nut came off the thread on both cables so had to screw them back on a little bit. I see wemoto do thrm cheap enough with upgraded metal adjusters as well. Gonna take it out for a good run when weather improves and see how I get on. And gets rid of the splutter at exactly 4000rpm which is what it has been doing.its so annoying like a bloody rev limiter at 4000rpm. Wish me luck!
